Carowinds wants to build a new roller coaster that will be original and creative, yet thrilling and exciting at the same time. You know people are attracted to roller coasters because of the height, length, and speed at they travel. You have been hired to head up this project, but before you can become a roller coaster designer you will need to learn all you can about force and motion and the relationship between them to build a safe ride for the customers.
Get ready to experiment and learn how to make a safe but exhilarating scream machine. You will have a partner to work with and together you will be researching, exploring, conducting experiments and taking notes on what you learn. You will need to work out how to share the responsibilities.
Here are your tasks:
- Work through the activities on the Process page in order. You will need a Motion and Design worksheet to record your work. Use Microsoft Word to complete some of the activities. Make sure to save as you are responsible for completing and turning in everything.
- Create the first part of your roller coaster online and persuade Carowinds that it will be a major attraction. Follow the guide on the Process page.
- Evaluate yourselves using the checklist on the Evaluation page.
